Elsa's Coronation Dress
Hey everybody! This is my first blog so please bear with me as I work out how to do this. I wanted to start a blog about cosplay and maybe share what I've learned from the experience. First up, I have Elsa's coronation dress from Frozen.
The dress is actually two pieces...the corset and the skirt. I was able to make both of these using the McCall's pattern 6911.
You could probably just buy a black turtle neck at a thrift or discount store but since I couldn't find one I had to make one. I used McCall's pattern 6796.
The cape was far more difficult. I couldn't find a pattern for that type of cape so I just made a pattern on myself. This was by far the most difficult part of the entire costume. I actually had to remake it because the first one did not fit right. The blue jewel was sewn on by hand using clear string.
The gloves were purchased from a costume store and dyed blue. All the designs on the dress, shirt, shoes (you can't see these in the picture) and gloves were all hand painted. To do this, I used a white tailor's pencil to sketch out the design then I painted over it.
The crown was made using foamies sealed with tacky glue and painted.
